ABOUT

Gabe Witcher is a Grammy winning Artist/Producer/Composer/Arranger best known for his work with the genre-bending acoustic quintet, Punch Brothers. Throughout his nearly 40 year career, he has become a first call musician/arranger/producer for luminary artists, producers, and film composers alike, including Paul Simon, Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma, The Coen Brothers, Randy Newman, William Shatner, T Bone Burnett, Sara Bareilles, and three MacArthur “Genius” Grant winners: Chris Thile, Edgar Meyer and Rhiannon Giddens. Gabe also frequently appears as a featured soloist on film and television scores including The Hunger Games, True Detective, Toy Story, Cars, Sons of Anarchy, Better Call Saul, Nashville, and Oscar Winners Brokeback Mountain and Babel.

Punch Brothers won the 2018 Grammy award for Best Folk Album and is currently nominated again for Best Folk Album (2023).

As a composer for visual media Gabe has written the scores to The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019) and Are You Afraid of the Dark, Season 2. (2021).  He was brought on as a composer for the blockbuster video game Red Dead Redemption 2 and has provided additional music to a wide variety of projects including The Hunger Games - Mocking Jay, Inside LLewynn Davis, True Detective, Motherland and Nashville.

He has been music director for Kennedy Center Presents: American Acoustic w Chris Thile - All Star Jam, Sara Bareilles "Amidst The Chaos" Album Release Promotional Tour & her performances on Saturday Night Live, Ellen, and others, The Music of Red Dead Redemption 2: Red Bull Music Festival Los Angeles (2019), Another Day, Another Time: f/ the music of Inside Llewyn Davis - Los Angeles (2013).

In 2014 he began debuting symphonic works and has had his music played by first rate symphonies around the world, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Boston Pops, San Francisco Symphony, l”Orchestre Symphonique de Bretagne and the National Symphony Orchestra.

Gabe was also an Affiliate Scholar at the Oberlin Conservatory from 2014-2019.

He currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
